Barry Campbell

Profession/About you:
My occupation at present in the food supply industry being a farmer, running a cow/calf operation.  

Years in Rotary:
I joined Rotary in 2014.

Hobbies:
During my life, I have played hockey since I was 10 years old and still enjoy the game.  Other hobbies include being part of the Highland Society, Miramichi, where I serve on a couple of committees, i.e. MacDonald Farm and Wilson’s Point Church.

What is your favourite thing about being a Rotarian?
I enjoy the fellowship with many outstanding Rotarians and helping in all the projects we undertake.

Tell us something others might not know about you:
In my previous life, I was a member of the RCMP for 29 years and did security for many dignitaries in various parts of the country.  In 1976, was part of a team that did advance security for Queen Elizabeth and daughter Anne at the Montreal Olympics.

This man is the pulse of the city! No idea how he finds the time, Miramichi is so lucky to have this man’s vision , without notice or drawing attention to himself,

He’s our go to guy in Rotary, always willing to help others, we are fortunate to have him as a member.

Barry Campbell is a true Rotarian and always giving with his time and his kind heart.

Recently retired from the City of Miramichi as Executive Assistant to the Mayor and Manager.  Worked at the City for 30 years. 

Years in Rotary:  
7 years, 3 as Secretary, 2 as President and now Past President.  

What is your favourite thing about being a Rotarian?
The fellowship with our group. Helping with many small and large scale projects, giving back to others both locally and globally.  
I love being the voice of our radio bingo and have met many wonderful people because of it.

Tell us something others may not know about you:   
I was fortunate to get my big start in life in a small community called Semiwagon Ridge.  My husband and I raised 5 hard working productive children, and have 8 grandchildren.   Also I have been volunteering in some capacity for 50 years.

Lucy McCray

Personal/Professional:
Proud graduate of JMH High School, Graduate of UPEI with a B.Sc and a Major in Nutrition.  I was a  Registered Dietitian for 33 years, working at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home for the 14 years prior to retirement.  I have volunteered with many public health/community programs since returning to Miramichi in 2020, such as Mango, Roots to Table (Food Security), Fresh for Less, the Miramichi Community Food Bank and the Salvation Army.  As well I was involved with starting up the Go For 42 running program for all the elementary schools in Miramichi.  I have been married to my wonderful husband Ralph for 42 yrs and I have 2 amazing children Chad and Victoria and 1 awesome grandson Owen.

Years in Rotary : 
13 years 

Hobbies: 
Biking , walking,(former and still wanna be) runner, hiking, mountain climbing (Machu Picchu and Mt. Kilimanjaro) and travelling the world!

Favourite thing about being a Rotarian: 
I love helping people no matter what their needs are.  Serving and supporting the community with other like minded professionals is so rewarding especially when we can see the outcomes and the positive impact it is having on those in need.  Enjoying the company of fellow rotarians, especially those in our club is an added bonus!  

Tell us Something Others Might not Know About You: 
I started running at age 45 and qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon twice. Running is a very rewarding sport and in all my travels around the world I can say I ran in some interesting places such as China, the Grand Canyon, Honolulu, the Las Vegas Strip, Cayman Islands and the Cabot Trail (to name a few ).

Lucy is a big part the glue that hold the Chatham rotary club together, she records the minutes for most meeting , Hugh job and does it every week with a smile!
